THE STORY:
Inspired in the famous Venezuela´s Youth and Children Orchestras Program, known as “EL SISTEMA”, Maroa tells us the story of an 11 years old girl, a daring survivor of the concrete jungle. Her daily food are soap operas and the rap that flood the lanes of the barrio and at night the snap of bullets, in a city with 130 violent deaths every weekend. Impetuous and determined, Maroa has no future, until she hears Mozart played by Joaquín’s clarinet. The connection is magical and deep. What does Grandma Brígida, a tricky fortune teller, who forces her to sell pornography, matter? Or the dangers that lie in wait for her at every step? Shy and unconditional, Joaquín is immediately interested in this talented girl, who lacks the most elementary discipline. He sows hope in her abandonment and discovers that through Maroa, his world also changes forever.
